Sheridan HS Soccer: It may only be the 2nd week of the season, but the Sheridan High School soccer teams are already starting the conference portion of their schedule.

For the girls, they are off to a 2-0 start under new head coach Josh Dube and scored a combined 16 goals in those 2 games.

Coach Dube explains what went right.

The girls play tomorrow at Cheyenne South and on Saturday at Laramie.

The boys will play the same 2 opponents at home.


Sheridan County HS Track and Field: The Sheridan varsity are scheduled to compete on Saturday at Broomfield, Colorado.

Arvada-Clearmont is scheduled to start their season today at Newcastle.

That meet was supposed to be held tomorrow, but due to the approaching weather system, the meet was moved up 1 day.

Tongue River was originally supposed to compete at that meet, but because of the change, they will not travel.


University of Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball: The Wyoming Cowgirls will find out tonight who their opponent will be, in the 2nd round of the WNIT.

Northern Colorado plays at UT-San Antonio at 5:30pm today, and UW will play the winner sometime between Saturday and Tuesday.

Just because the Cowgirls got a first round bye, there’s no guarantee they will host the second round game.

Elsewhere in the WNIT, Boise State got crushed last night in the first round at Montana, 92-66.


Men’s College Basketball: Yesterday Boise State was eliminated in a First 4 game of the NCAA tournament.

The Broncos lost vs. Colorado 60-53.

There are still 5 Mountain West Conference teams alive in the tournament.

Today Nevada plays at 2:30pm vs. Dayton and Colorado State plays at 4:50pm vs. Texas.

San Diego State, New Mexico and Utah State all play tomorrow.

In yesterday’s other First 4 game, Sheridan High School grad Sam Lecholat and the Montana State Bobcats, lost in overtime vs. Grambling State 88-81.

Lecholat scored 6 points in that game.


Sheridan College Rodeo: The spring season in the Central Rocky Mountain Region started this past weekend at Gillette.

For Sheridan College, Faith Heim placed 6th overall in the barrel racing, Sierra Kilgenkamp was 5th in the breakaway roping and Jake Schlattmann was 2nd in the bareback riding.

Cowboys and Cowgirls will compete again this weekend at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington.


Colorado Rockies Pre-Season Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost yesterday at Arizona 5-1.

The Rocks play at home today vs. the Chicago Cubs beginning at 2:10pm.

The regular season opener for Colorado is 1 week from today.
