News ReleaseThe Sheridan College Generals Rodeo Teams competed in Cheyenne, WY over the weekend.
Clancy Glenn, of Parma, ID and Joe Priebe, of Independence, IA both made the short-go on Sunday in Saddle Bronc.
Glenn’s first ride scored him 72 points and his ride on Sunday scored 76.5.
Priebe’s ride in the long-go scored him a 69.5 and his ride in the short-go scored a 76.
Glenn placed fifth overall, scoring the Team 50 points and Priebe placed seventh overall, scoring the Team 15 points for the weekend.
Priebe is currently in eighth place for the region and Glenn is tied for eleventh place in the region.
Team Ropers Cassidy Schuelke of Opal, SD and Chase Lapp, of Casper, WY ended up fourth overall for the weekend.
Their time was 8.5 seconds in the long-go and 9.3 seconds in Sunday’s short-go.
Schuelke also made the short-go in Breakaway Roping, where she placed sixth overall.
Her time in the long-go was 2.4 seconds, which was the fastest time going into Sunday’s round.
Schuelke did not get a time in the short-go and scored the Team a total of 135 points and was third overall for the weekend in the Women’s All-Around.
She said, “It’s always a good feeling to know you had a good weekend and could gain some confidence to go into the next rodeo. It’s just a great feeling to know you’re accomplishing what you’ve been working so hard for even if it doesn’t work out in the short-go. It helps you to know that you can do it and you just keep getting better each weekend. It makes me super grateful to know you have the support and help from the coaches and teammates each weekend and to know that they will help you with anything that you need.”
Generals Head Coach, Marc Gilkerson, said, “We are working hard in practice this week to get ready for the final rodeo of the fall. I’ve been seeing a lot of improvement from the team as a whole. We are ready to put these practices into motion in Colorado this weekend.”
Other athletes who are currently placed in the region are Bareback Rider Davis Otto, of Scio, OR, who is currently in tenth place, Bull Rider Wyatt Phelps, of Pinedale, WY, who is currently tied for third place, Bull Rider Brodie Bates, of Riverton, WY, who is currently tied for fifth place, Team Roper Header Schuelke, who is tied for twelfth place, Team Roping Heeler Lapp, who is also tied for twelfth place, and Breakaway Roper Sierra Hilgenkamp, of Wall, SD who is currently in tenth place.
The top three athletes for each event at the end of the 2023-2024 season qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, WY in June.
Currently, the Men’s Team is sitting in ninth place and Women’s Team is sitting in tenth place in the Central Rocky Mountain Region.
The Generals hit the road this weekend and head to Lamar, CO for the final rodeo of the Fall Season.
The Team’s rodeos will pick back up again in March for the spring season.
