The Wyoming High School outdoor track and field season ends this weekend, and one Sheridan Bronc thrower is ready to continue at the college level.
Senior Matthew Ingalls has signed his Letter of Intent (LOI) to compete at the University of Mary, located in Bismarck, North Dakota.
The senior placed 7th in the shot put at last week’s 4A East Regional Meet, and was 15th in the same event at last year’s outdoor state meet.
Ingalls says he plans to major in civil engineering, throw shot put and discus and maybe try the javelin and hammer throw events.
He adds it was the “team” atmosphere that won him over.
“It was the best option for me academically and athletically. It was definitely the chemistry among all the team-mates just supporting each other, and helping each other along. I’ve been doing track and field since 8th grade, and I just fell in love with it. I’ve made so many new friends from just the team alone and competition.”
The University of Mary Marauders is an N-C-A-A Division 2 school and is a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
The men’s track and field team placed 5th in last year’s conference meet.
