John Trabing
Private family funeral services for John Trabing, 90 year old former Buffalo resident who passed away Friday morning at the Casa Adobes Assisted Living Facility in Tucson, Arizona will be held for immediate family members on Saturday, December 12th at 11:00 a.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Pastor Donnie Holt officiating. The funeral will be livestreamed from the Harness Funeral Home Website at www.harnessfuneralhome.com for all of his friends who would like to attend. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. John Raymond Trabing was born on December 13th, 1929 in Fulton, SD to Fredrick and Mamie (Emery) Trabing. He grew up and went to school in Fulton and graduated from Fulton High School in 1947. In 1948 he was employed by Northwestern Public Service Company out of Mitchell, SD as an apprentice lineman. It was there in Mitchell, that he met and later married the love of his life, Arlene Fae Earles on August 21, 1949. In 1955, they moved to Pierre, SD where he worked as an electric power lineman for the US Bureau of Reclamation. In 1957, he was transferred to Boysen Dam outside of Thermopolis, WY, and after two years there, they moved their family to Shasta Dam in Redding, CA for one year; returning to Thermopolis, where they raised their five children; Cheryl, Doug, Scott, Peggy and Jan. In 1978 John transferred to the US Department of Energy as Supervisor of Transmission Lines and Substations with the US Western Area Power department, which took them to Casper, WY where he retired in 1985. After retirement, John and Arlene took a cross country road trip in their motorhome, while they waited for their house to be built in Bigfork, MT. They made their home there until 1993, when they moved to Buffalo, WY. On March 3, 1995, Arlene passed away and after 26 years in Buffalo John moved to Oro Valley, AZ to be closer to his family. John was a longtime member of the Thermopolis BPOE Elks club and loved working on his land in Buffalo where he always found projects to keep him busy, as well as hunting, fishing, camping and being around his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his children; Cheryl Taylor, Doug (Alison) Trabing, Scott (Cathy) Trabing, Peggy (Steve) Hornick and Jan (Kevin) Sewell. Sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Arlene, brothers Eddie & Earl Trabing, sister Donna Klinger and special friend Ruth Watkins.
