Private family interment for Dick Rives, 79-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away Thursday, September 24th at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo, will be held by his family at a later date. Loren Richard “Dick” Rives was born on April 10, 1941, in Buffalo, Wyoming to Loren and Gladys Rives.  He grew up and went to school in Buffalo and graduated from Johnson County High School with the class of 1959.  He was married on July 1st, 1961 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Sandra Brooks and they made their home on the Triangle A Ranch West of Buffalo where Dick was a ranch hand. They lived in Buffalo for nine years before moving to Linch, Wyoming where they lived for 6 years.  In 1977 they moved to Rawlins, Wyoming where they lived until 1982 when they moved back to Buffalo.  In 1989 they moved to Colorado where they owned and operated Rives Trucking until 2013 when they retired and returned to Buffalo.  Sandy passed away in March of 2016 and Dick continued living in Buffalo until his death.  Dick was an avid gardener and loved raising roses. He is survived by two sons, Wade Rives and his wife Deanna of Gillette and Miles Rives and his wife Tiffany of Buffalo; one daughter Alena Ryan and her husband Dan of Broomfield, Colorado; one brother Melvin Rives and his wife Patsy of Buffalo; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother Garry Rives.
