Harriet Josephine Hubbell, 94, of Buffalo, Wyoming, passed away on June 25th, 2019. She was born to parents Harold and Margaret Bryant on October 14th, 1926 south of Lamoni, Iowa in her grandmother Fetty’s farmhouse by Dr. Reed.
In 1940, Josephine was married to Olaf Niswinder with whom she had one child, Lyle Neisum Niswinder. During 8 years with Olaf, she endured many of the hardships of the Depression Era, while living on sheep wagons and herding sheep for a living throughout the States of Colorado and Wyoming.
Life moved on and Josephine married Charles Franklin Hubbell on August 23rd of 1953. Together they had their only child, Charles Allan Hubbell in Buffalo Wyoming, and lived over five decades of marriage between Gillette and Buffalo.
‘Grandma Jo’ later had a long and fulfilling career within the Campbell County School District as a janitor and head cook for over 20 years, retiring from there in 1985.
Her only two loves were her great family and the outdoors, something she said often: “I never feel any closer to God than when I was at Lake Angeline.” Jo was an avid camper, fisher, ATV, and snowmobile rider, and happily spent most of her life in the Big Horns with her family. She was an exceptional cook and will forever be remembered for her stew that could feed an army for a week, or the most amazing biscuits and gravy this side of the Mississippi.
Josephine is survived by her son, Charles Allan, grandchildren Tony Niswender, Jennifer Bambi and Charles Edward Hubbell, and great-grandchildren Charles William, Josephine Victoria and Grady Todd Hubbell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Franklin, and son, Lyle Neisum.
A memorial will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, August 1st at Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo, WY.

Jo was one of my favorite people. She shared a room with my mom at Westview and she was such a sweet friend to her. In the short amount of time that I knew Joe she became part of our family. We cared for her and she cared for us. She was a great woman and we loved her. I hope her and Mom are having a grand time in Heaven. RIP Grandma Jo.
