Rodney Wayne Penfold was born on August 17, 1947, in Denver, Co. He passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side. He was the oldest son of Donald Keith Penfold and Nancy Davis Penfold. Rodney attended schools in Ft. Lupton, Co. After high school he joined the Marine Corps at age 18. After his tour of duty in Vietnam he attended college and earned a degree in agriculture. He worked for Halliburton, Cattle Ranches, and Boys School as a counselor. Rodney joined the army to serve once again and then retired after 20 years of service.
Rodney enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, leatherwork, reading, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Penny Masiel. He is survived by his wife Mary Penfold; his brother Jon Penfold and his wife Pattie of Greeley, Co; 3 children, Carmen Johnson, Phoebe Rittenhouse, and Daniel Rittenhouse; 4 grandchildren – Joe Pearson, Kayla Pearson, Nathan Wagner, and Eric Killion; and 9 great-grandchildren – Ivyn Killion, Jade Killion, Xaivier Pearson, Michel and Ava Pearson, Anthony Wagner, Alex, Serenity, Darrin Wagner.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at 11:00 am with Kitt Laidlaw officiating. A reception will follow in the Kane Funeral Home Reception Hall. Following the reception, inurnment will take place in the Juniper Heights Section of the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
