William Stanley Day was born on July 10, 1941, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania to Kenneth and Dorothy Day. He grew up and went to school in Pottstown and graduated from Owen J. Roberts High School with the class of 1960. Bill met and married the love of his life, JoAnne, in 1961. Bill, JoAnne, and their 4 children moved to Buffalo in 1979. Shortly thereafter, Bill went to work for the City of Buffalo and continued there until his retirement in 2009. He was a gifted craftsman who could build or fix anything. When Bill did a job, it was done right. Bill loved Buffalo, the Bighorns, birds and dogs, watching an old western or his Phillies play ball. Bill played softball in the Buffalo Softball League until he was 63 years old.  Most of all, he loved his family and his wife of 62 years, JoAnne. Bill is survived by his wife JoAnne; two sons, Bill and Scott; and one daughter, Lori Holt. Bill is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael. Bill was fond of saying, “Watch your top knot” and appreciated the appropriate response, “Watch your ’n”! Above all, Bill was a man of gentleness, kindness, and quiet wisdom. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
