Our Mom, Virginia (Ginny) Rose Hancock, passed away peacefully at Amie Holt Care Center after a short stay.  We invite you to join us on Friday, Sept. 2nd, 2022 at 10:00am for her service at Harness Funeral Home.  Pastor Anne Knighten will officiate.  Graveside services will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery, with a reception after at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 615 N. Burritt Ave, Buffalo.  Mom’s visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 1st from 2:00pm – 6:00pm, at the funeral home chapel.

Mom lived a multi-faceted life and lived each aspect, with joy and gusto.  Mom remembered a happy childhood, proudly worked for the FBI, was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and volunteer, and enjoyed many hobbies, including puzzles.  Born March 17th, 1930 in East Liverpool, OH (ELO) she was welcomed by her parents, Rosa Bernice (Howard) Howard & Harold (Mickey) Ray Howard, Sr., and 14-month-old brother, Harold (Mickey) Ray Howard Jr., whom she adored.  Amongst a large extended family, she grew up along the Ohio River.  She graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1948 and Ohio Valley Business College in 1949.

After college she lived in Washington DC, working for the FBI.  In 1954 she and her roommate Eileen wanted a change and transferred to Denver, CO to enjoy skiing and a whole new environment.

Mom and Dad (Robert L. (Skip) Hancock, Jr.) met in Denver, CO, while Dad was at Denver University and Mom was working for the FBI.  They were married on Sunday afternoon, June 16, 1957.  After honeymooning in the Grand Canyon, Mom went back to work and Dad finished school.

August of 1957, Dad acquired a job with Pan American Petroleum Co. in Powell, WY.  From Feb. 1959 to Dec. 1961, they had 3 darling girls.  Then in Feb. 1963, very surprisingly, twin boys made the family seven.

Due to Dad’s work, the family moved from Powell to Anchorage AK, then to New Orleans LA, with a final move to Buffalo, in 1972.

Mom enjoyed the moves and remained active in the local church and found time to knit, sew, keep her family on schedule, keep a tight budget and make wonderful desserts.  After Dad’s retirement, they dedicated their lives to family and travel.

Mom mourned the death of her son, Michael (Mike) Howard Hancock, brother Mickey, and both her parents.

Mom will be mourned by her husband, Skip Hancock; daughters Becky (Bruce) Seibel, Patty Hancock, Barb & (Chuck) Mahoney, and son Bob (Kathy) Hancock.  Four loving granddaughters Kaitlyn Mahoney & partner Justin Pounds, Jenna Mahoney & husband Chuck Sears, Zoey Mahoney & husband Seth Kreitinger, Tashann (Seibel) & husband Dan Bennett. Two great-grandchildren Mckenzie & Ty Bennett along with countless family and friends. We look forward to sharing memories, tears, and laughter.  In lieu of flowers, please remember Mom to your favorite charity.  The Hancock Family.
