COVID-19 Testing Begins at Amie Holt Care Center

Testing for COVID-19 has begun at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo and will continue indefinitely.
According to Brenda Gorm, Director of Nursing at the Amie Holt Care, the facility has received their shipment of testing supplies and began testing of 20% the residents and staff as of June 27th.
Testing will continue every two weeks with another 20% of staff and residents with each testing period.
Testing is not random and all residents and staff will eventually be tested on a rotating basis.
If there is a positive case in within staff or residents, then everyone will be required to be tested every two weeks, according to state guidelines.
The healthcare center will at some point be performing antibody tests, beginning with staff and then on to the general public.
Dr. Mark Schueler explained what information antibody testing would give the medical staff.
Dr. Schueler said the healthcare center will have some antibody tests leftover, and that there is some demand for people to find out if they do, although he suspects very few actually have immunity to the virus.
