Sheriff Discusses Scam Involving Loss of Family Members

While a recent guests on our talk show Public Pulse, Sheridan County Sheriff Levi Dominguez and Under-sheriff Lt. Doug Sanders talked about the “Scam of the Month,” involving those mourning the loss of a family member.

Lt. Sanders explains how the scam works.

Sanders said the victim eventually realized it was a scam and didn’t lose any of their money.

Sheriff Domingez said education is the key to minimizing the number of those that fall victim to these scams.

Both Domingez and Sanders said if anyone has questions or concerns about anything that could possibly be a scam to contact local law enforcement or go to www.ic3.gov, which is the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center.
