A Sheridan woman was recently sentenced in Fourth Judicial District Court for the charges of felony child abuse and misdemeanor child endangering. 

District Court Judge Darci Phillips accepted the terms of the plea agreement that was reached between the defendant and the State, and sentenced Stephanie Fruciano to 3 to 5 years in prison for the child abuse charge, suspended in lieu of three years of supervised probation, and 60 days in jail for the child endangering charge with credit of 60 days of time served.
Fruciano was ordered to pay $475 in court costs and assessments and $500 in public defender fees.

Also from District Court, 18-year-old Robert Swaney received a deferred prosecution and three years of supervised probation for a burglary charge. Swaney was ordered to pay $325 in court costs and assessments, $500 in public defender fees, and $394 in restitution jointly and severely with two other co-defendants. According to court documents, Swaney, along with two other individuals, stole items from unlocked vehicles in Sheridan during the early morning hours of April 6, 2025.

    Felony child abuse and stealing from cars end up with the same consequences? Three years supervised probation?!?!?!?!!!
