Mayor Gives Buffalo Wells Project Update

Buffalo Mayor Shane Schrader, in an interview with Sheridan Media, discussed the upcoming Buffalo Wells and Pipeline Project that will soon be getting underway, after the city council recently awarded the contract for drilling of the wells.
Four bids were submitted to the city on the wells portion of the project, and the council awarded the contract to Wildcat Well Services for just over $68,000.
The project will drill a number of water wells just west of the current water treatment plant for a secondary source of drinking water for the city, in case there are future problems with Tie Hack Reservoir, the city’s primary water source, according to Schrader.
Phase Two of the project will build the pipeline between the wells and the water treatment plant.
The Wyoming Legislature has approved roughly $1.24 million in funding through the Wyoming Water Development Commission, which is about 67% of the cost of the project.
The City of Buffalo will contribute $610,000 or 33% of the total project cost of $1.85 million.
The goal of the project is to get six working wells that can each produce 200 to 300 gallons of water per minute.
