SCSO Active Investigation into Missing Person James “Bo” Galloway

On May 5, 2025, local Sheridan resident, James “Bo” Galloway, was reported missing to the Sheridan Police Department (SPD) by family members who advised they had not been able to contact Galloway for the past week. At the time, Galloway had been living at a residence in Sheridan that bordered several large parcels of land outside the city limits of Sheridan and within Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) jurisdiction.

SPD officers attempted to locate Galloway, without success, and an Attempt to Locate was publicly disseminated in the hopes of locating Galloway and/or obtaining additional investigative leads.
SCSO, with the assistance of the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), opened an investigation to look into Galloway’s disappearance as it related to area(s) outside of SPD jurisdiction.
Investigators began closely examining prior cases and also recalled a recent case involving a male subject observed trespassing within the fenced partition of the Sheridan County Airport property on May 2, 2025. SCSO deputies responded and searched the area, but were unable to locate the subject.
After further investigation and follow-up, investigators suspected the male observed at the airport was Galloway. In addition, multiple homeowners within the area between the airport and Galloway’s residence, identified Galloway as a person they had previously witnessed walking amongst their properties over the past several weeks.
As of June 4, 2025, there have been no additional leads that have led to Galloway’s whereabouts.
Given the proximity between Galloway’s residence and the airport, in addition to previous reports of Galloway accessing adjacent properties within this same general area and the lack of any further sighting(s) of Galloway, SCSO and DCI elected to coordinate efforts to further search this area.
On June 6th and 7th, 2025, five K-9 teams and several Sheridan Area Search and Rescue members were brought in to assist in the search efforts for Galloway. The searchers conducted a grid search of the aforementioned area, which spanned approximately 600 acres in size and Galloway was not located. It’s worth noting, these dog teams are trained in cadaver detection; however, there is no evidence at this time to suggest Galloway is deceased. Rather, investigators wanted to conduct a thorough search of this area and rule out that possibility.
The investigation remains on-going and additional coordinated search efforts are anticipated. Updates will be provided accordingly.
