The current display at the Clearmont Historical Center is a Natural History Exhibit. Community members contributed fossilized shells, wood, fish skeletons, and leaf impressions, as well as other interesting items.

Many of the items are from the immediate area, but some are from other areas around the state.

There will be a presentation on geology and natural history by Dave Nicolarsen on July 19 at 2:30 p.m. at the Clearmont Historical Center in Clearmont.

Nicolarsen is the Curator of the Sheridan College Museum. He works on the dinosaur displays that are being placed throughout Sheridan. Nicolarsen graduated in Geology and Mining from the Mackey School of Mines in Reno, Nevada. He also leads the Museum of Discovery field trips to a dinosaur quarry south of Buffalo in the Morrison Formation of the Jurassic period, about 152 million years old, to uncover dinosaurs.

Anyone with natural history items is invited to bring them into the Clearmont Historical Center to add to the display, and everyone is welcome to come and take a look at some of the interesting rocks and fossils from around Wyoming. The exhibit runs from June 1 through August 31.

Also featured is the Phil Little Ranch, a 100-year-old ranch near Leiter, Wyoming, that was once used as a film location for a Marlboro cigarette commercial with the original Marlboro Man.

Center hours are Wed, Fri & Sat 10-4 until August 31.

Once again, Cynthia – great coverage!
It is good that this display will run all summer.
    See you there!
