Transportation Director Bill McKenzie updated the Johnson County School Board, reporting that the winter activity season had recently wrapped up.

In his written report, he said schools within the district will be skiing in the Bighorns every Monday for the next several weeks with multiple buses traveling to Meadowlark Ski Lodge.

He gave some details about the transportation department, saying the district’s largest bus route (Piney Creek Route) averages 57 students per day, and has to deal with the most road closures during inclement weather.

He also reported that the transportation department has averaged 247 students going both to and from school each day, and so far this school year have transported nearly 32,500 students both ways.

He said activity numbers are close behind with just over 26,000 students participating in activity trips so far this year.
