The HUB on Smith Senior Meals Program Director and Executive Chef Kevin Coleman and Tongue River Valley Coordinator Robin Ruff made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the delivery of meals at home and congregate meals in the smaller communities of Sheridan County.
Ruff works to coordinate deliveries of meals to various locations around Sheridan County. She also checks in on many seniors living alone and away from the hustle and bustle of the City of Sheridan.
Coleman runs the daily works of one of the busiest kitchens in the county, following the recommendations of dietitians and nutritionists, ensuring Sheridan County seniors are getting the food they need to remain active.
Colman said the amount of meals going out into the county wouldn’t be possible without Ruff’s diligence and dedication to the smaller communities and some volunteers with big hearts and brave souls who deliver the meals in almost any weather condition.

Not wanting the seniors in these communities to miss out on visiting with old friends and having a good reason to get out of the house, Ruff said congregate meals are available. These gatherings are a crucial part of remaining active and social for many seniors.

It takes a small army of volunteers to ensure these seniors receive their meals. And according to Coleman and Ruff, they are pleasantly surprised again and again at the dedication of the people who give their time to deliver these meals to the people of Sheridan County.
