Council Removes Mayor and Council Member Compensation Ordinance From Agenda

The Sheridan City Council met for their regularly scheduled business meeting Monday night. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
An ordinance proposed by Sheridan Mayor Roger Miller to amend the salaries of the council members and the mayor’s position was removed from the Council’s agenda by a vote of 4 to 3. The motion to remove the item was made by Councilman Patrick Henderson. The ordinance that was being proposed would have amended the salary of the mayor’s position from $24,000 to $48,000 annually and the council members would have gone from $6,000 to $12,000 annually. The change in compensation would not be for the sitting mayor or council members, only newly elected positions. Mayor Miller offered this statement following the vote to remove the ordinance from the agenda.
Councilman Aaron Linden provided his reasoning for voting to remove the agenda item.
We’ll have more from the Council meeting for you in future stories. I’m Ron Richter, Sheridan Media News.
