The Buffalo City Council passed Ordinance No. 1415, the annual appropriation bill, or budget, on third and final reading at their regular meeting Tuesday evening.

The budget was passed with two amendments suggested by councilman Mike Madden, who explained the first, relating to funding for the St. Francis Animal Shelter.

The second amendment will take $5,000 allocated to the Johnson County Tourism Association to run the Visitor’s Center kiosk east of town and give the funding to the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce to run the facility instead.

According to discussions, the JCTA has since decided not to run the visitor’s center and the funds were transferred to the chamber in the budget.

After the amendments, the council passed the Ordinance for $18,493,596.
