The Sheridan WYO Rodeo Royalty board hosted a horsemanship clinic, Foundations of Reining, on Saturday May 13. The clinic was for potential royalty contestants and other interested Sheridan County women, ages 10-25 years old. The full-day event took place at the Guynn Training Center indoor arena located at 1112 HWY 14 in Banner.

Clinicians Lindsay and Mark Guynn helped the attendees with their horsemanship, and 2019 Miss Rodeo Wyoming, Hannah Ostheimer, offered guidance on all aspects of the rodeo royalty experience.

“We’re looking for young ladies interested in the opportunities associated with becoming a rodeo queen, and what to expect when competing at the WYO Rodeo and beyond,” said Jennifer Craft, WYO Rodeo Royalty board co-president.

Craft said that she and Vickie Jost were co-presidents of the Wyo Rodeo Royality Board and that Kari Parr had been running it for several years, and this year she is busy with her daughter, Riata Cook, who is this current Miss Rodeo Wyoming.

Craft talked about what they are doing and about the Saturday clinic, which was attended by four young ladies.

Texie Baker, whose daughter, Teeka was at the clinic and will be competing as the WYO Rodeo Princess.

She had this to say about her daughter,

Saturday’s clinic focused on horsemanship and horse training, and 15-year-old Kaydence Fulkerson riding her horse, Wizard, had this to say about the clinic.

One of the trainers was Lyndsay Guynn, Mark’s daughter who is a graduate of the University of Georgia, and she rode for their equestrian team there. She said she trains horse with her dad and helps with the clinics.

There will be more clinics coming up during the summer, and the next one will be on June 15. To secure your spot contact Jennifer Craft (307) 751-6216 or Vicki Jost at (307) 763-2201.
