Sheridan County’s Commissioners voted to approve and accept an agreement with the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) for funding to begin planning for a 2026 project on County Road 139, East Ridge Road.

County Engineer Ken Muller gave the details to the commission at their Tuesday meeting, saying the board had previously allowed him to apply for WYDOT’s Commission Road Improvement Program (CRIP) for funding for the project.

The program usually comes with a 15% local match in funds, but WYDOT lowered the match to 10% but have capped the total amount of funding at $3 million, which will mean the county will need to match up to roughly 24% of the total cost.

Muller explained the estimate for the project is about $3.9 million, with WYDOT contributing $3 million, and the county adding $900,000.
