cvannoyIn a news release from SCSD#2, it stated that the board of trustees in their April 10 meeting approved Timm Cooper as Sheridan Junior High School principal. Cooper will take the reins at Sheridan Junior High School on July 1.
Cooper has worked at Sheridan Junior High School for a total of sixteen years as a Social Studies teacher and instructional coach.
He holds Bachelors in Education and Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in reading from Black Hills State University. He earned his Masters in Educational Leadership through Western Governors University.
In addition to his teaching roles, Cooper is an active coach in the community. He currently serves as the head coach for junior high eighth grade football and the sophomore boys’ basketball coach at Sheridan High School.
“Timm Cooper is a true education practitioner,” said Superintendent Scott Stults. “He has demonstrated a strong commitment to student learning and an ability to lead as a coach where he has modeled the ability to build relationships with students and staff. Along with his knowledge of instruction and Professional Learning Communities, his energy and passion for education are extraordinary. He has proven over the years that he is hard working. He will be a great fit in this new role at SJHS.”
“I am extremely excited to serve in this new role. I have had the pleasure of working alongside the dedicated staff at Sheridan Junior High School for many years, and look forward to supporting the students and staff in the years ahead,” shared Cooper.
Cooper replaces outgoing SJHS principal Christy Spielman, who will step down from the role in late June.
