CommuniTrees Inc. is a new nonprofit organization serving Sheridan and Johnson Counties in Wyoming.

The mission of CommuniTrees Inc. is to assist local communities to preserve, protect, and care for trees. The company’s goal is to help low resource homeowners, local governments, schools, and other organizations, take care of their trees by providing direct assistance, education, and volunteer opportunities.

CommuniTrees Inc. is announcing their first tree care assistance project in Sheridan County is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 9. The work location is 106 W. 7th St., Sheridan. The homeowner is Peg Cullen. According to CommuniTrees Inc., Cullen has a large silver maple tree in her backyard that requires pruning to improve its structure, reduce risk to herself and her neighbors, and to keep the tree healthy. The pruning work will be performed by local arborists and tree care companies who are volunteering their time and equipment and will be supported by the City of Sheridan.

CommuniTrees Inc. hopes that this will be the first of many similar projects helping communities care for trees, and in turn help to improve the health and safety of community forests so that everyone can enjoy the many benefits trees provide.
