cvannoyOn Tuesday, Dec. 17, the SCSD#1 Board of Trustees recognized the TRHS Girls 2A State Championship Cross Country team.
He said they were kind of a disaster squad, because in 2020 they won during Covid and this year the forest fire took away two weeks of training, and they took the State 4-A Championship. He added that there were no seniors on the team, “We will be back next year.”
After the team recognition, the board heard a presentation from Ryan Fuhrman. principal of TRE, about the one room Slack School outside of Parkman.
Slack is 22 miles from Ranchester, and last summer’s fire was just up the slope from the school, so the students came into TRE until it was safe.
In other business, the board heard from John Bridges who talked to the board about wondering why they needed to spend money on a strategic plan consultant.
The board approved to hire a consultant to help with the five-year strategic plan for the schools. Several policies were approved, and there was also the annual board reorganization. Clint Krumm was re-elected as chairman; Mercedes Biteman, vice-chair; Morgan Stalick was elected as clerk; and Bill Adsit was elected as treasurer.
