The Sheridan Community Land Trust has announced that its Explore History program for May will be “The Flyboys of Bomber Mountain.”

The program will be held on Tuesday, May 14, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at The Hub on Smith in Sheridan.

And again on Tuesday, May 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon., at the TRVCC in Dayton.

In the summer of 1945, cowboys were rounding up their cattle in the Bighorn Mountains. They noticed something shining on top of a ridge. They found the wreckage of a B-17 Bomber.

Join Sylvia Bruner, Executive Director of the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum in Buffalo, as she tells the story informed by a decade of research of the ten men on board the B-17 Bomber that had taken off two years earlier and never returned.

This Explore History program offers open conversation for community members to share their memories or historical information about these sites and events.

Explore History is free to attend and open to all. For more information, visit https://sheridanclt.org/events.
