Last year, SCSD#2 purchased the some of the buildings on Normative Services (NSI) property to be used for temporary staff housing. They now have six units ready for use, many that are already rented.

Rebecca Adsit, assistant superintendent, talked about the new units that are ready for this fall.

Scott Stults, Superintendent of SCSD#2, said in an interview last fall that teacher and staff housing was not a new concern in Sheridan, “We’ve seen that for years,” But he added that recently they have seen a drastic increase in the price of homes in the area. This increase is making it difficult for teachers to find housing, either a rental or a purchase, that they can afford on a teacher’s salary.

In order to qualify for the new housing units, Adsit said that any new employee who is interested has to fill out an interest form, and then the school will approve the application for those who meet the requirements. These units will give the teacher more time to find more permanent housing here in the area.

When asked about the response to the project, Adsit said this.

Stults said last fall that teachers will come, agree to the job in Sheridan, but have to go elsewhere due to the fact there is no housing readily available.

When asked if this is helping to solve that problem, Adsit said,

She added, “We are grateful to the Scott Foundation for their partnership with the district to obtain this staff housing to help address the issue of affordable housing in Sheridan. The properties were purchased to provide short-term housing for staff looking for an affordable place to live, as the district is committed to recruiting and retaining the best teachers possible and this opportunity is another way in which that can be accomplished. Through both the collaborative work and the financial donations to Sheridan County School District. No. 2, the Scott Foundation enabled the district to purchase the renovated properties and for this, we are thankful.”

Maybe you should up the teacher’s salaries. We need good teachers who don’t teach our kids about transgender and the other crap out there. If your old enough you can remember when God was taught in school. We didn’t have the problems we now face.
