While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, AARP navigator Nancy Drummond told listeners that the Marketplace open enrollment begins on Nov. 1.
The open enrollment for Medicare-D begins Oct. 15, and will be open until Dec. 7. This insurance is used to help with the high price of prescription drugs.
Since 1995, Drummond has been helping people navigate through the quagmire that is medical insurance. Many times the list of options, deductibles, premiums and selections of plans can be daunting, even to explore. That’s where AARP and Drummond step in, it’s not only her job, she likes to do it.
Drummond looks at the long list of policies, plans and requirements as a puzzle to be solved. She enjoys helping people to find what works for them and their budget and she knows it takes a heavy weight from their shoulders.
While appearing on Sheridan Meida’s Public Pulse program, Drummond set the record straight concerning the difference of Medicare and Medicaid.
People can also get help by calling 211. This number provides the most current and comprehensive database of community resources in the State of Wyoming and will connect callers with resources to help in navigating through the health insurance process.
Drummond also warns individuals to ensure they are visiting the correct web pages, such as Medicare.gov and not .com. According to Drummond, some insurance companies attempt to mislead individuals attempting to sign up to medicare through these .com sites.
The Marketplace can be reached here. This site can help people of any age seek affordable health insurance. Medicare.gov will lead parties to Medicare, a government national health insurance program which began in 1965 under the Social Security Administration and now administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Drummond is also available to speak with and help to guide residents through the process. Contact the HUB on Smith to schedule an appointment with Drummond at (307) 672-2240.
