Sheridan Amateur Hockey Teams Celebrate Various State Championships

Sheridan’s Amateur Hockey Teams recently celebrated 3 State Championship wins from the 2024-25 season.
The Lady Hawks repeated as champs at this year’s state tournament in Pinedale.
In round robin pool play, the team defeated Jackson, then Jackson defeated Pinedale, and Pinedale defeated Sheridan.
The difference was that Pinedale’s win was in a shootout, and that win carried less weight in the 3-way tie breaker rules, hence the Lady Hawks and Jackson advanced to the championship game.
Sheridan won the rematch for the championship 3-zip.
Breann Charlebois is a freshman at Sheridan High School.
She says being the defending state champs going into this season was fun, and the team got everyone’s best shot.
When the Lady Hawks were preparing for various opponents on game day, the team wasn’t trying to overthink things ahead of the game.
“I think we just tried to take the stress off and have more fun. Pre-games, it wasn’t that we had big conversations about what we needed to do, it was more of we were listening to music and we just tried to make it as fun as possible and the least amount of stress that we could have.”
McKena Bales is a senior at Big Horn.
She says being the marked team this time around is something that the Lady Hawks were not used to, but the seniority on the team showed the younger players how to deal with it.
“It definitely had a lot of pressure. I know I was kind of nervous about it, and I feel like some of the older girls were, but for the younger girls, we put up a good front to show that it’s ok to have nerves. It’s ok to have a target, because that means we have potential as a team, especially with our younger girls, and we had a good team this year, so it just shows that we put in a lot of work and it showed.”
The Lady Hawks finished the season with a record of 22-2.
The Sheridan 14 and under team and 10 and under team also won state championships this season.
