Sheridan County HS Football Teams Prepare For Games Vs. Rock Springs/Glenrock/Wheatland

Due to air quality issues involving the Elk Fire, Sheridan’s home game vs. Rock Springs has been moved to Natrona County High School in Casper.
The Tigers are currently 3-3 and are sitting in the middle of the 4A pack.
RS leads Class 4A in team rushing averaging 232 yards per game.
Broncs Head Coach Jeff Mowry says the opposition is similar to Kelly Walsh.
“They start a lot of times in a full house backfield, kind of some old school full house backfield and then they shift out of it into some double wings and some different formations. They’re a very very heavy run team. Run the ball about like Kelly Walsh does. Different types of runs, but that’s how they run the ball. They want to maintain the clock, they want to get first down first down, put together 10-12 play drives and we’ve got to stymie that. We’ve got to be physical up front and we can’t let them get first down first down and eat up the clock.”
Kickoff in Casper is scheduled for 6pm.
After having last week off from competition, Big Horn will go back to work this week at Glenrock.
The Herders have yet to win a game this season, and up until about 6 years ago, the team was one of the most dominant teams in Class 2A in the 2000 and 2010 decades.
Rams Head Coach Kirk McLaughlin says he knows the opposition has fallen on hard times, but he can tell that they’re not giving up.
“They’re changing the way they do things, the schemes and all of that. They’re trying to rebuild, they just don’t quite have the talented groups that they used to right now, but they’re battling. They get excited to play football, you can see that on film and they’re going to take shots, so we can’t just take them for granted, based on what they’re record is right now.”
Kickoff in Glenrock is scheduled for 6pm.
To say that Tongue River will be excited to get back on the football field, would be an understatement.
The Eagles play their homecoming game vs. Wheatland and with the fire aside, this may be an opportune time to play their opponent.
The Bulldogs lost in overtime last week and TR Coach Steve Hanson says that can be difficult to get over sometimes.
He adds his players need to knock them down again and keep them down, plus help the school and the community take their minds off of what’s been going on the past 2 weeks.
“We can’t sleep on Wheatland. We can not allow them to build momentum. I’m sure they’re hungry after an overtime loss. I know I’ve been in that position too, but we got a little more to play for this week. This community needs a win, these boys need a win. We need something to celebrate out here in the valley, and I’m hoping that the boys can deliver that, both on the scoreboard and on the field, where we leave the field with our community feeling good about something.”
Kickoff at TR is scheduled for 6pm.
