Former Sheridan Mayor and Educator Jim Wilson Honored by the Wyoming High School Activities Association

The Wyoming High School Activities Association has recently notified Jim Wilson, former Mayor of Sheridan and retired member of the Sheridan Sports Officials Association that he will be inducted into the Wyoming sports officials association hall of fame on July 17, 2020.

The SSOA nominated Wilson for his 36 years of service to the association and to the junior high and high school students of Sheridan county and around the state of Wyoming.

Jim started officiating intramural football and basketball in 1962 while a college student in the state of Ohio. upon graduation, he took a break from officiating to coach high school football in Ohio for 8 years.

He moved to Sheridan in 1976 to accept the position of Assistant Principal at Sheridan high school. He registered with the WHSAA to officiate both basketball and football during his first year in the

state and with the exception of two years remained an active official in Wyoming until his retirement in 2014.

The WHSAA recognized his lengthy career with a 30 year distinguished service award in 2007.
