The Hawks capitalized on all four power plays they were given to win the first game of the season over the Yellowstone Quake 4-1 on Friday (September 9th).

The score remained level through 20 minutes with Wyatt O’Donoghue scoring for Yellowstone and Wyatt Nobles scoring for the Hawks.

Sheridan grabbed the lead in the 2nd thanks to a pair of goals from Ryan McKenna.

Ryan Hiles brought the lead within one before intermission, scoring with just 17 seconds left on the clock.

Makhai Sparks would provide the dagger 15:17 into the final period coming from Parker Norling, his 3rd assist of the night.

Patric Loeffler made 22 stops in the win while Yellowstone goalie Edvin Falkenstrom kept out 33 in the loss.

On Saturday, however, the Yellowstone Quake picked up their first win of the season as they came back from the night before going 4-1 over the Hawks.

The only goal from Sheridan came off the stick of Ryan McKenna during a 4-minute penalty kill when he broke away and scored a shorthanded unassisted goal late in the second period making the score 3-1.

Unfortunately, just over a minute later their Hawks momentum was quashed when in an unusual situation a Quake shot which was initially waived off was later allowed in a decision made during the intermission giving the Quake a three point lead and a psychological boost at a critical time of the game.

Sheridan net minder Jack Wood stopped 30 shots of 34 shots on net by the Quake.

The Hawks play their home opener this coming Friday and Saturday (September 16th and 17th) vs. Butte.

The puck drops at 7:30pm both days.
