Russell Eugene Miller was born on June 6, 1947 in Cottage Grove, Oregon to Johnny and LaVerne Miller. As a child he moved with his family and went to school in Arizona and Texas. The family moved to Buffalo in the early 1960’s and Russ’s father worked for the 41 Ranch. Russ was married in 1966 in Buffalo to Marta Patch and they made their home in Buffalo. In 1979 they leased the Patch Ranch and were in the cattle business for many years. In 1984 they left the Patch Ranch and Russ pursued his dream of being a saddle maker, at which he became extremely proficient and well respected. They left ranching altogether in 2000 and moved into Buffalo. Marta passed away in February of 2017 and Russ continued living in Buffalo until his death.
Russ was a passionate saddle maker and enjoyed re-loading, shooting and making arrow heads out of glass. He is survived by one son, Bobby Miller and his wife Carla of Buffalo; one daughter Rhonda Zezas of Sheridan; one brother Ron Miller and his wife Donna of Monahans, Texas; three sisters Patsy Rives of Buffalo, Lee Schneider and Joyce Miller both of Granbury, Texas and Johnni Dunford of Edmond, Oklahoma: nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one son John.
