Jan McCrady

Graveside funeral services for Jan McCrady, 83-year-old Story, Wyoming resident who passed away Sunday, will be held Friday, May 5th at 2:00 p.m. in Willow Grove Cemetery with Reverend Barry Moen officiating. The American Legion and VFW will be in charge of military graveside rites.  Donations in Jan’s memory may be made to the Veteran’s Home of Wyoming at 700 Veterans Lane in Buffalo, Wyoming. Jan Merlon McCrady was born on November 27, 1939, in Buffalo, Wyoming to Plummer and Fern McCrady.  He went to elementary school in Buffalo and attended St. James Military Academy in Minnesota. At age 17 he joined the U.S. Air Force and served twenty years at various bases in the U.S.  He also was stationed in Canada and served in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart.  He was married in March of 1959 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Patricia Smith and they lived on various military bases.  They were divorced in 1970 and Jan stayed in the Air Force.  He was married on May 4, 1972, in Buffalo to Jane Hibler and they made their home in Cheyenne where Jan was finishing his military career.  After retiring they moved to Story, Wyoming where he lived until his death. He is survived by his wife Jane of Story, Wyoming; one son Clif McCrady and his wife Shelley of Casper, Wyoming; one daughter Janet Salmans of Merced, California; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
