Johnson County’s Commissioners have approved the Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) contract at their last meeting.

County Road & Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer brought the contract before the commission, saying the cost was more than originally budgeted for, but that funds were available in his budget for the increase in cost.

According to figures from Road & Bridge, the county received $426,000 from the state for their cost of materials, and with the 20% county match of $106,686 they had $532,686 for the original estimated cost on the contract.

The actual cost is $546,188.12 which left a deficit of $13,502.12 that the county will need to pick up on the contract.

The commission voted to accept the contract with the increase in cost.
