One Sheridan County town is trying to make its wastewater treatment plant more up to standard.
Design work is underway to improve the plant for Dayton, so it can meet more stringent discharge standards imposed by the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, regarding e-coli bacteria within the water that has been treated.
The town will have a public meeting in conjunction with its regular council meeting on February 16th, beginning at 7:15pm.
The proposed project requires disinfection and aeration improvement within the plant, along with streambank improvements along the Tongue River, that will protect the plant from erosion of the plant’s embankment that tend to occur during periods of high river flow.
Based on current estimate costs, the town plans to borrow more than 2.4 million dollars from the Wyoming Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund, which is administered by the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments.
Increased user fees and capital facilities funds is what the town would use to repay the loan.
