A 34-year-old South Dakota man was sentenced to prison Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan. Dallas Mitchell was found guilty of Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance- Marijuana, and Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver- Marijuana, following a jury trial this past November in District Court. District Court Judge John Fenn sentenced Mitchell to 4 to 6 years in prison on each charge, with the sentences to run concurrent to one another, and consecutive to whatever sentence he may receive for an unrelated charge that’s pending in South Dakota. Mitchell received 156 days of credit for time served, and was ordered by Judge Fenn to pay $560 in various court costs.

The charges stem from when Mitchell and Bret Feser were were pulled over by a trooper with the Wyoming Highway Patrol on Interstate 90 just outside of Sheridan on August 26 of 2018. A search of the vehicle yielded approximately 74 pounds of marijunana, which authorities believe was being transported by the two men from Washington State to South Dakota.
