JCSD1 Board Approves Continuing Indoor Track

The Johnson County School Board has approved continuing to offer indoor track to Buffalo High School students moving forward, although there were some concerns over an activity budget shortfall.
BHS students have traditionally competed on the Sheridan High School team, but last year they could not compete on their team and were approved by the school board and the Wyoming High School Activities Association to initially compete as their own team last year.
Students, parents, and coaches interested in continuing the program came before the board at their meeting this week to push for them to allow the team to compete and for the district to fund the program.
According to discussions, although wanting to continue to offer the activity, some board members were concerned with continuing the sport with a higher than anticipated activities budget.

After more discussion, the board approved continuing the indoor track program at BHS on a 6 to 3 vote.
