The Johnson County Commission has voted to lift the hiring freeze to allow the replacement of an employee in the county clerk’s office and to replace the administrative assistant in the commissioner’s office.

According to discussions at the commission meeting Tuesday, Brandi Carder, assistant deputy and accounts payable deputy, will retire from the county clerk’s office at the end of the month, and Taylor Klaahsen, assistant deputy, will be moved into Carder’s position.

County Clerk Vicki Edelman will then hire someone to fill Klaahsen’s position in the clerk’s office.

Commissioner’s Administrative Assistant Ashlea Bassett’s time was split between the commissioner’s office and County Road & Bridge.

She will be moving to a full-time position with road & bridge and the commission will hire a part-time employee for the commissioner’s office.
