Wyoming State Forestry Funds Community Garden Grants Through Rooted in Wyoming

Rooted in Wyoming has received two grants funded through the Wyoming State Forestry Division. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The grants, totaling $15,000, are development grants through the Wyoming State Forestry Division’s community forestry program. Rooted in Wyoming Executive Director Lise Foy talks about how the first grant, titled the ‘Sheridan School and Community Garden and Orchard Enhancement Project’ will be used.
Foy said the second grant, titled ‘Sheridan Gardens Interpretive Signage and Virtual Botanical Tour’ will be used for entrance and interpretive signage at each garden to include dynamic QR codes linking to information about garden components and plant species. The signage project will connect the gardens in a virtual tour that can be used for educational purposes. While every site is not a direct partner with Rooted in Wyoming, Foy says the organization serves as the grant administrator, organizing work-days and supporting additional fundraising efforts.
The enhancement projects are scheduled for completion by the end of May and the signage project by the end of September. Rooted in Wyoming also recently received a mineral rights gift. We’ll have more details on the gift in a future story.
