Pat BlairWyoming gardeners can cultivate skills to grow plants anywhere in the state through a 14-week online training program that starts next month.
The Master Gardener training program starts Feb. 10 and continues through May 12, providing over 40 hours of gardening education according to Chris Hilgert. Hilgert is the University of Wyoming Extension Master Gardener statewide coordinator.
He said whether you’re a new or experienced gardener, you can learn how to successfully grow plants in Wyoming’s varied landscapes and gardens. Live classes will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays and will be taught by UW Extension specialists and educators experienced in their fields.
Classes will also be recorded for those unable to attend the live classes or who want to review the classes later.
Classes will include instruction on basic botany, soils, season extension, growing vegetables and herbs, fruit trees and berry crops, site analysis and landscape design and lawn care among other topics. Instruction will also include pest management, plant diseases and diagnosing plant problems.
Registration costs $75 and can be done online at https://bit.ly/master-gardener-2021.
