With no Democrats filing for state and county offices in Sheridan County this year, elections in the state Senate, House of Representatives and the county commission were decided in the primaries.

Barring an unprecedented number of write-in votes, Dave Kinskey will continue to serve Sheridan and Johnson counties in Senate District 22, and three of the four state representatives will retain their seats.

That includes Rep. Mark Kinner who, in an interview earlier with Sheridan Media, talked about why he was seeking re-election.

Also returning to Cheyenne next year will be District 51 Rep. Cyrus Western, who talked about his commitment to doing what’s right.

Also running with no Democratic opposition this year is Mark Jennings, representing Sheridan County’s House District 30.

The lone new state representative is Barry Crago, representative from House District 40, which is Sheridan and Johnson counties. Crago also had no Democratic opponent. He defeated incumbent Rep. Richard Tass in the August primary elections.

The Sheridan County commissioners court will see long-time Commissioner Tom Ringley returning to office, and one new commissioner – Lonnie Wright.

Municipal elections are contested this year with one exception. In Ranchester, where two council seats are up for election, only one candidate filed. Jeffrey Barron will take one seat uncontested, and the remaining seat remains to be filled later.
