The one-time site of Sheridan College’s construction technology building on Brooks Street is being prepared for conversion into a parking lot.

Carmen Rideout, executive director of The Hub on Smith Street, said construction of the parking lot will complete Phase I of the Hub’s master plan.

Rideout said the master plan has been under consideration for the past year or so.

The Hub acquired the former Sheridan College property as the result of a land exchange approved by the Sheridan Economic and Educational Authority Joint Powers Board in June 2019.

Under a series of agreements, Sheridan College received a total of 31 acres of land on Solutions Way east of the college, including a 25,000 square foot building for the college’s construction technology program.

The Brooks Street land was then gifted to the college by then-owner Whitney Benefits, and, in turn, The Northern Wyoming Community College District, which operates Sheridan College, granted the property to the Hub on Smith Street.

The building that occupied the site has since been torn down and a chain-link fence installed around the site.
