Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week is October 4 through October 10. This year, the National Fire Protection Association has announced the official campaign theme as Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower. According to the NFPA, the 2026 campaign responds to a sharp, 10 percent annual increase in fires caused by lithium-ion batteries, which power everyday tech like cell phones, laptops, e-bikes, scooters and various power tools. Johnston said that for Fire Prevention Week, there will be an open house at the Fire Station in Sheridan from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, October 10.
