Brooks Street Right-of-Way Vacation Approved

A request to vacate a portion of Brooks Street in Sheridan adjacent to the Sheridan County Courthouse was considered by the Sheridan City Council this week. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Due to traffic safety concerns, Sheridan County requested the vacation of South Brooks Street between West Whitney Street and West Burkitt Street, adjacent to the Sheridan County Courthouse. City of Sheridan Community Development Director Wade Sanner said that the idea to vacate that portion of Brooks Street has been discussed between City and County officials for a number of years.
Prior to the Council approving the resolution allowing for the street to be vacated, Sheridan County Administrative Director Renee Obermueller addressed the Council.
Sheridan County Commissioners recently gave their approval to apply for a WYDOT TAP grant to perform a feasibility study that would provide a more in depth review and design a plan for the improvements to the portion of Brooks Street that’s been vacated. Obermueller said that if the TAP grant is approved, the feasibility study with WYDOT would begin in October of this year.
