SCSD#2 Board Discusses Recalibration
At the Monday, April 6 board meeting, recalibration was still a topic of discussion for the board.
Superintendent Scott Stults, in his report, talked about school recalibration and how it will affect SCSD#2. He said there are still many questions that need answers.

He added that the new model for teachers salaries raised some questions, and they are working on how to fit into the model. He also talked about classes sizes in the new funding model.

He said that this can create a problem as SCSD#2 now has more staff than the model shows for a school. But, Stults emphasized, SCSD#2 is not going to start reducing their teaching staff, as the model does give some districts the opportunity to make decisions based on what is best for their districts.
In other business, several polices were approved on first and second readings, including a policy on sexual harassment and one on the use of social media platforms.
Scott Stults, Rebecca Adsit, Kristie Garriffa and Traci Turk talked about some of the events that the district’s PTO has hosted. and there was a summary of the district’s PTO happenings as well.

Jennifer Murphy said that this will be the first staff-student volleyball game that they are planning, and it a fundraiser for the PTO. Cost is $5 for adult and $2 for students. It will be held on Thursday, April 9, at 5:30 p.m. at the Sheridan Junior High School.
In the “From the Board” section of the meeting, Trustee Doug Moore talked about the adopt-a-school program the board is participating in.
There were no audience comments at the meeting, and the next meeting will be held on May 4 at 6 p.m.
