WYG&F: Another Successful Year for Access Yes
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is reporting the Access Yes program provided hunting access to 2,547,138 acres in 2025 within the enrolled boundaries of walk-in hunting areas and hunter management areas, according to the department’s Access Yes 2025 Annual Report. The acreage includes land in all 23 Wyoming counties.
According to the department, the purpose of the Access Yes program is to expand and sustain public opportunities to hunt and fish on private lands and on public lands that would otherwise be difficult to access. Game and Fish works with private landowners to enroll property in one or more of three Access Yes options: hunter management areas, walk-in hunting areas and walk-in fishing areas.
The Game and Fish report that in the 2025 year, the program also provided access to an additional 190,015 acres of otherwise inaccessible public land adjoining walk-in hunting areas and hunter management areas. Walk-in fishing areas offered access to 3,949 lake acres and 96 stream miles.
Access Yes assists landowners by managing hunters and anglers, reducing agricultural damage through harvest and providing law enforcement presence. In exchange for access, landowners receive financial compensation based on enrolled acreage or stream mileage, enhanced wildlife management assistance and support in managing sportspeople. The department benefits through expanded wildlife management opportunities, increased license sales and improved public access.
