Ranchester Man Killed In 1-Vehicle Roll Over In Natrona County
A Ranchester man may have fallen asleep at the wheel, while driving on the freeway towards Casper.
According to a preliminary Wyoming Highway Patrol fatality crash summary, shortly after 10am on February 2nd, 83-year old Leonard Chambers was driving his vehicle southbound on I-25, about 25 miles from Casper, when his vehicle went off the road to the left, then overcorrected to the right.
The vehicle hit a delineator post before reentering the roadway and went into a driver’s side slide.
After overcorrecting a second time, the vehicle rotated into a passenger side slide, tripped and rolled 2 times, before coming to a rest in a ditch.
The Patrol says Chambers was wearing his seat-belt, but died later that day at a hospital.
Driver fatigue and/or sleeping is listed as a contributing factor in the crash.
A passenger in the vehicle was also injured and survived.
Chambers’ death was the 12th reported highway fatality for this year, at the time.
