Tick Blitz 2025

Sheridan County Weed and Pest District will be participating in Tick Blitz 2025 taking place throughout Wyoming counties on May 16 and 17. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The Tick Blitz is a statewide tick collection event initiated by Teton County Weed and Pest that engages citizen scientists in the effort to survey and collect tick specimens that will be tested fordiseases like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Colorado Tick Fever, and Tularemia. Sheridan County Weed and Pest Assistant Supervisor Brian Songer said that Teton County Weed and Pest launched the program last year with the goal of better understanding tick species diversity and distribution, and the prevalence of tick-borne diseases throughout Wyoming.
Songer said he’s been receiving reports of high tick populations this spring.
Sheridan County residents interested in participating in this year’s Tick Blitz can contact Songer at Sheridan County Weed and Pest at (307) 672-3740.
