Wyoming’s first lady Jennie Gordon launched a new program that will work in conjunction with the Wyoming Hunger Initiative.
The Wyoming Hunger Initiative is Gordon’s official initiative launched in October of 2019. The initiative seeks to find and support solutions to the challenge of food insecurity in Wyoming.
Launched on May 18, Food from the Farm + Ranch will add locally grown farm and ranch products to be donated and distributed through Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies.
During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Gordon told listeners that the idea for Food from the Farm + Ranch came from listening to her fellow ranchers in Wyoming who were looking for a way to help hungry Wyoming families.
Three beef have been donated to the program by Wyoming producers, processed and delivered to Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies.
To accomplish such a feat, Gordon partnered with the Wyoming Stock Growers Association, Wyoming Custom Meats Inc., the Wyoming Department of Agriculture and Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies.
According to Gordon, the ultimate goal of Food from the Ranch + Farm is to utilize Wyoming products to combat food insecurity.
If you are a producer interested in donating to Food from the Ranch + Farm contact the Wyoming Hunger Initiative at www.nohungerwyo.org or the Wyoming Stock Growers Association at www.wysga.org.
