Jorgensen said that more often than not, most seat belt violations he and the HP have to issue are to Wyoming residents. When asked why they choose not to wear the seat belt, many cite the freedom of choice not to do so.

Seat belts not only keep you inside the protection of the car, they keep you in control of the car, by keeping you in the same position relative to the controls.
Seat belts also provide “seat-of-the-pants” feedback on what the car is doing.
It’s hard to control the car if you’ve been thrown into the passenger seat and you can’t tell which wheels have traction if you’re up on the ceiling.
All three reasons for being “strapped-in” have been proven on the racetrack.
Been there, done that.
